Ashley Cole explains what Chelsea are missing under Maurizio Sarri in stinging criticism

Chelsea legend Ashley Cole has identified why his former side are lacking the quality to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

The Blues were expected to compete right at the top end of the Premier League during Maurizio Sarri's debut season but have struggled at times.

Rather than success on the field, there have been rumours off it that Sarri might not even see out the season.

The Italian manager has Chelsea fighting for the top four and now the club do seem to have found the light at the end of the tunnel, but Cole insists they are missing some key ingredients.

The former Chelsea defender believes his old team need to be more arrogant and get in the faces of their opponents to be more effective moving forward.

"Chelsea have missed that bit of bite this season and I don't think they play arrogant anymore," Cole told Sky Sports.

Meanwhile, former Tottenham and Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp added his thoughts on what is worrying him about Chelsea this season.

Redknapp said: "The manner of the defeats is worrying. They have been blown away by teams. As soon as things start to go wrong, they go missing."
