Ashley Cain shares devastating news his baby daughter has died after leukaemia battle

Ashley Cain has shared the devastating news that his baby daughter Azaylia has died after losing her battle with leukaemia.

The reality star confirmed that she had sadly passed away on Sunday, April 25.

In an Instagram post, he penned: "Rest In Paradise Princess.

"I will always hold you in my heart until I can hold you again in heaven," The Mirror reports.

The former footballer, who previously played for Mansfield Town, is also well-known for his appearances on reality TV show Ex on the Beach.

His daughter Azaylia, who was born in August last year, has had an ongoing health battle and was only given days to live after doctors found more tumours earlier this year.

Azaylia battled the illness for a number of weeks, supported by Ashley and her mother Safiyya Vorajee.

In her own tribute, Safiyya wrote: "You are my Angel my heartbeat my soul, RIP my precious baby, you will always be with me like a handprint on my heart."

The Council House in Old Market Square, Nottingham was lit up orange earlier this week as a message of strength to Azaylia and her family.

Ashley had raised £1.5 million in donations from the public to fly his daughter to Singapore for specialist treatment but before they could go, a CT scan showed that there were further complications.

Ashley and Safiyya had taken their daughter home from hospital but after two nights, the decision was taken to take the baby off pain medication.

She perked up briefly, giving hope that travelling to Singapore could be a possibility but these hopes were dashed after doctors there said that Azaylia's condition was too rare to treat.

Azaylia was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia two months after her August birth and has been receiving treatment at Birmingham Children's Hospital.

In recent weeks, Azaylia's health deteriorated as blood clots were discovered on her brain, which led to her crying blood and having to spend more time in hospital.
