Ashley Cain says baby Azaylia's doctors have told them to 'make the most of the weekend'

Ashley Cain has said that his baby daughter Azaylia's doctors have told himself and girlfriend Safiyya Vorajee that they should "make the most of this weekend".

The former footballer, 30, made the emotional admission while taking his daughter for a walk in her pram as he tried to keep her cool.

Azaylia, who was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia when she was just eight weeks old, returned home last week after undergoing another emergency transfusion but returned to hospital briefly earlier this week.

Ashley told his followers on his Insta Stories that he was remaining positive and insisted that he enjoys "every day" with his baby girl.

He said: "The palliative care team told us that we should make the most of this weekend and enjoy this weekend, so you can understand what that message means.

"The fact of the matter is, we make the most of every day and we enjoy every day. And I'll tell you one thing, I ain't got no plans for going anywhere this weekend. I'm an optimist, I'm a believer.

"I have a positive mind frame and I know her strength and I know mine. And I ain't thinking them things because I don't need to make a special effort to enjoy these things because I enjoy it every day. But I ain't got no plans on this little one going this weekend, trust me. Let's go champ, let's go."

Ashley went on to share a video of Azaylia's oxygen tank, which helps her sleep.

He continued: "It's mad, isn't it? The things you have to do."

Doctors have told the family that there is no more that they can do for Azaylia and she is spending her final days at home, where Safiyya and Ashley have vowed to shower her with love and make every moment count.
