Ashley Cain's fundraising bike ride for Azaylia Foundation to stop in Nottingham tonight

Footballer Ashley Cain's country-wide bike ride to fundraise for children battling childhood cancer will stop in Nottingham tonight.

On the fifth day of his charity ride from Lands End to John O'Groats the celebrity, whose story touched many as his 8-month-old daughter Azaylia Cain fought cancer, will be stopping at the Victoria Embankment, Nottingham, on September 6 at around 7.30pm.

The 30-year-old finished the latest leg in Stratford-upon-Avon on the night of September 5.

The bike ride is a part of the charity challenge started by the The Azaylia Foundation, which was set up in memory of his baby daughter Azaylia Cain who lost her battle against acute myeloid leukaemia in April.

Huge crowds have gathered at the end of each of the days of the ride so far, including at Bristol and Stratford-upon-Avon.

The former professional football player and TV personality shed tears as crowds, including his family and partner Safiyya Vorajee, greeted them with chants of 'Let's Go Champ' at the last meeting point in Stratford-upon-Avon.

There are hopes similar crowds will gather at the Nottingham meet up point.

He is carrying out the ride with his brother Matt Moore and aims to raise as much money as possible for the The Azaylia Foundation, which will support the children and families who are affected by childhood cancer..

The charity was set up after little Azaylia sadly lost her inspirational battle against acute myeloid leukaemia back in April.

Carrying her name, it is using the £1.6m raised on the GoFundMe page, which was set up to try and raise enough money so the baby girl could receive life-saving treatment in Singapore.

It topped £1m in less than 24 hours - but sadly she was unable to have the treatment.

Now they want to use the money to help other children battling childhood cancer.

Details about the charity can be found at www.theazayliafoundation.com
