Ashley Banjo criticised by viewers for 'getting out wrong side of bed' after giving low scores on Dancing On Ice

Dancing On Ice judge Ashley Banjo came under fire from fans of the show for being mean with his marking.

And as some decided the Diversity dancer was trying to be the new Simon Cowell or Jason Gardener, others took to Twitter to voice their concerns over his marking - with someone even branding him racist.

Ashley, was criticised early on for giving Emmerdale actor Joe-Warren Plant a lower score of seven for his performance on Sunday’s show.

He said at the time: "My score is not based on your ability, I know you’re good and I expect you to be good. My score is based on two things tonight. Firstly the challenge, it didn’t feel like a unique step to me. It felt like a piece of choreography. The second one was this song is so full of energy and when you pack a routine so full of stuff I can sometimes see you just going step to step to step.

"I’d rather less moves and see you perform. So I want you to perform more and complete the challenge absolutely."

While other judges gave him an eight, Ashley continued to receive negative comments about his scores throughout the show.

One viewer asked: "What medication has Ashley Banjo taken this morning?

Another commented: "Ashley Banjo, you’re so freaking harsh with you’re scoring this week especially with Jason wats ur problem Ashley ?"

And another added: "I think Ashley Banjo got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning." while one follower of the show said: "Ashley Banjo is tighter than a duck’s arse with his scores tonight."

Some however agreed with Ashley's comments saying it was “spot on”.

One person wrote: "That was way overmarked. Ashley’s critique was spot on. Where was the unique move?"

Another defended: "Why are people moaning about Ashley Banjo giving low scores? I agree with him that the creative element is not great in a lot of the routines tonight & he is being consistent in his markings. "

Ashley himself retweeted one person who said: "Ashley Banjo is a racist. Low scores for everyone white. Your a joke."

Ashley retorted: "Alright that’s enough twitter for one night"

He later told viewers after the show: 'If you disagreed with the scoring tonight I hope you voted... let’s see what happens."
