Dialect and performance coach Ashish Pathode is all excited and pumped up for Om Raut's larger-than-life film 'Adipurush'. Featuring pan India actor Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon, it is an Indian Hindu mythological film based on the epic 'Ramayana'. Prabhas plays Raghava (Ram), Kriti Sanon plays Janaki (Sita), and Saif Ali Khan will shoulder the responsibility to portray Lankesh (Raavan) on the big screens. While the film will be the first of its kind to use motion capture techniques in Bollywood, Ashish Pathode along with the actors and the team members, walked the extra mile to imbibe the new method to bring out the best from the team.
"As we all know 'Adipurush' is completely based on the Indian epic 'Ramayana' and all the characters in the film are mythological, the director of the film Om Raut has presented all these myth-based characters in a new way and in a different level. Like the characters of Ram, Sita and Raavan are packaged differently and will be addressed with their other names like Raghav, Janaki and Lankesh respectively. The film has come out brilliantly and will be a visual treat to the audience as the director has very beautifully correlated Ramayana with the present generation. Be it the design of the film or the VFX, the makers have not left any stone unturned to make it look extravagant. The film is made on a grand scale and the audience will feel like they are watching a Hollywood film. The film will be introducing motion capture in Bollywood films for the first time as the technique hasn't been used earlier in any Hindi film. I got myself trained for this MoCap technique and then I helped the actors and the team to get the perfect expressions and emotions," Ashish shares with ETimes.
Ashish is all praise for the actors who have done a great job in the film. Speaking about Saif's character, in particular, he says, "Saif sir's character in the movie is huge. For the first time, the audience will see him as a huge character. As he plays Lankesh, his role has various shades and moods and in the film, every mood of his is presented in a different and in a huge way. I really enjoyed working with each actor."
Interestingly, 'Adipurish' is Ashish's second association with Saif Ali Khan as they had earlier worked together for 'Tanhaji- The Unsung Warrior'. "Yes, I worked with Saif sir for the second time and I haven't seen such a performer, someone who has done mammoth work in his career at the age of 53, is so greedy as an actor. He is always eager to learn something about his role. The way Saif sir has portrayed Raavan is commendable. He will do things with conviction. He used to sit with me and ask how to go with the character, what all research is needed and what needs to be done to make the character look appealing. Despite being a National Award-winning actor and someone who has done a range of characters and films in different genres, the urge to learn something new is present in him. He has that surrender quality, be it with the director or with me. He will always ask what needs to be done to make the character stand out," Ashish praises the 'Omkara' actor with a smile as he concludes the conversation.
