Ashgill Road crash: 76-year-old seriously injured as street closed down for six hours

A 76-year-old has been left with serious injuries after a crash in the north of Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to the scene of a two-car collision on Ashgill Road at Balmore Road at around 10.30am yesterday (Thursday) morning.

The road was shut down for over six hours as rescue teams responded.

Police have today confirmed one of the passengers, a 76-year-old woman, was taken to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries.

Officers have since launched an investigation into the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called to a report of a road crash involving two cars on Ashgill Road at Balmore Road in Glasgow around 10.30am on Thursday, 19 August, 2021.

“The 76-year-old female passenger of one of the cars was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries.

“The road was re-opened around 4.50pm. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
