Ashes 2019: Two Australia fans ejected from Old Trafford for shouting 'show us your passport' at Jofra Archer

Two Australian cricket fans were asked to leave Old Trafford after using “foul and abusive language” towards Jofra Archer on the first day of the fourth Ashes Test.

The England fast bowler did not respond but looked angered as he fielded on Wednesday.

A Lancashire spokesman confirmed that the incident had occurred and that two supporters were asked to leave the ground.

The pair were stood below the England dressing room and shouted abuse at Archer while he was fielding.

Other spectators sitting close by alerted stewards and the police were informed.

The Daily Telegraph reports that among the insults shouted were “Jofra show us your passport” and other inferences to Archer’s heritage.

The 24-year-old was born in Barbados but has a British passport due to his British father.

Australian pairing Steve Smith and David Warner have been booed and jeered throughout the Ashes series after their involvement in the sandpaper scandal last year.

However, despite extra security being provided for Warner’s family after fears for their safety in England, there has thus far been no major crowd trouble during the Test matches.
