Newcastle United fans have vented their fury towards Steve Bruce after their Carabao Cup exit to Brentford.
Whilst Bruce named a relatively strong line-up, Championship side Brentford rotated some players, with former Magpies striker Ivan Toney only on the bench.
Yet Newcastle struggled to create chances against a solid Brentford side, who eventually won the game 1-0 thanks to standout performer Josh Dasilva's second-half goal.
The Magpies failed to break the Bees down in search of an equaliser, despite the presence of four strikers on the pitch, and fans were stunned at just how easily their side were defeated.
Speaking post-match, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp, whose 'careful what you wish for' pre-match comments attracted some criticism from Magpies fans, said supporters had a right to feel angry with the defeat to their Championship opponents.
Redknapp was critical of Newcastle's lack of quality and accepted that Brentford deserved to go through to the semi-finals - the first major cup semi-final in their history.
He said: " Frustrated and disappointed as well because it’s a big opportunity. We spoke about it before the game that you want to be staying in the Premier League, but you’ve got a real chance here.
"I knew it would be a tricky game obviously because of the sides Brentford have taken out this year.
"But they didn’t do enough, not enough quality, not enough good football. They didn’t do enough.
"I thought that Brentford were the better team, they had a couple of players out and still looked a classy outfit and deserved the win."
