Ash Taylor set for shock Aberdeen exit as Stephen Glass wields the axe in Pittodrie shake-up

Ash Taylor has become the first shock casualty of Stephen Glass ' Aberdeen reign.

The experienced defender, who has been one of the Dons’ top performers this season, has been told that the club don’t have the finances to keep him.

Glass has already signed Scotland international Declan Gallagher from Motherwell and has targeted Clark Robertson for a Pittodrie return from Rotherham.

Aberdeen are also set to re-sign Mikey Devlin on a six month contract to prove his fitness while Andrew Considine is still under contract for another year

Taylor said his farewells to staff at Cormack Park on Friday.

The 30-year-old was first at Aberdeen from 2014 to 2017 and then returned for a successful two year stint from 2019.

The centre half already has interest from both sides of the border.

Taylor has been out with a hamstring issue since Glass came in but has been one of the reasons why Aberdeen have one of the best defensive records in the Premiership.

Tommie Hoban is also out of contract and is set to depart, while Ethan Ross has still to agree to an extension.

Shay Logan has already been told he is leaving and spent the last part of the season on-loan at Hearts.

Niall McGinn is likely to be offered a deal on reduced terms while Bruce Anderson, who is on loan a Hamilton, has also had an extension tabled.

Fraser Hornby is also set to return to State de Reims after his indifferent loan spell.

Decisions still have to be taken to see if deals will be agreed to let Flo Kamberi and Callum Hendry return to Pittodrie after their loans.

Aberdeen are also set to sign Jay Emmanuel Thomas from Livingston and Celtic captain Scott Brown, while they are also keen on St Mirren's Jamie McGrath, who would cost a significant six figure fee.
