Ash Taylor seals Aberdeen return as defender becomes Dons' second signing of summer

Ash Taylor is heading back to Aberdeen just two years after leaving the Dons for Northampton.

The giant defender made 125 appearances for the Pittodrie side during three seasons from 2014 before leaving for the Cobblers under freedom of contract after the 2017 Scottish Cup Final defeat to Celtic.

But Derek McInnes has moved swiftly to re-sign the 28-year-old after he was transfer listed following Northampton's relegation from League Two.

Taylor, who has agreed a two-year deal, becomes Aberdeen's second signing of the summer following the confirmation that Wales international Ryan Hedges is heading north from Barnsley.

The winger has agreed a three-year deal from July 1.

McInnes faces a big rebuilding job at Pittodrie this season with club captain Graeme Shinnie having moved to Derby and question marks hanging over Gary Mackay-Steven who has yet to commit to a new deal having come to the end of his old contract.
