An Asda employee has gone viral on social media for their heart-warming response to a customer who could not pay their shopping bill.
The response has sparked mass comments from other shoppers who hailed his actions as an 'act of kindness.'
Store colleague Ron came to the aid of a regular customer who found that they had left their card at home and would not able to pay their shopping bill, reports Manchester Evening News.
In a show of excellent customer service skills, the 87-year-old asked how he could help, and when he found out that it would be a 45 minute trip for her to come back with her card, he ended up paying the full bill.
The kind gesture has seen the helpful employee nominated for an Asda Service Superstar Award after the shopper was so touched by his response that she contacted them to tell them the story.
The supermarket chain shared the full story to their Facebook account, where they have been regularly posting about how employees have been going over and above for their customers.
Ron said: "I’d seen the customer in here quite a few times so I know she was a regular. I could see she was a bit distressed so I said to her ‘Don’t worry about it’ and I just scanned my card for her.

"She said her husband had taken her bank card to do something else. I said ‘Don’t rush back, it’s fine and don’t tell your husband off for pinching your card!’ She came in quickly afterwards and sent in a lovely letter.
“I’ve done it before too, I’m always happy to help. A customer was trying to pay with his phone and he hadn’t sorted it out and it didn’t work. He was a regular as well so I helped him."
The Facebook post sharing the kind story has since went viral with 9.7k likes and thousands of comments from shoppers who were all floored by Ron's response.
One shopper wrote: "There are good people out there, and a lot of them work in Asda. I'm so glad your acts of kindness are appreciated. Well done Ron."
A second impressed shopper wrote: "Well done Ron. such a wonderful thing to do ,you went that extra mile to help a Lady customer."
"Brilliant act of kindness", praised a third shopper.
Not only are customers praising the act of kindness, but many of the stores regular shoppers have gotten in touch to confirm the excellence of Ron's regular customer service skills.
"Ron is a lovely man. Always smiling and happy to help. Well done Ron, not many people would have done that," wrote one of the stores shoppers.
Another regular praised Ron by commenting: "Ron is an absolute legend. He's part of the furniture at the store and absolutely deserves all the praise coming his way. Well done Ron xx."
