An Asda staff member has been priased for "going above and beyond" after helping a young girl with special needs find her mum.
Elisha Carmichael, has been carrying out her daily tasks in the Asda Living Belfast store on York Street, when she noticed that a young girl was on her own and appeared to be in distress.
Elisha, who is in her second year training to be a learning disability nurse, knew something was wrong and went over to assist her.
She started talking to the girl in order to keep her calm and brought her to a quiet area where she gave her a bottle of water.
Continuing to talk to the young shopper, Elisha made sure that her mum was found and the pair were reunited again.
She said: “When I started chatting to the little girl, I found out she had special needs and couldn’t find her mum in store. I’m in my second year of training to be a learning disability nurse so I was happy to be able to help the little shopper.
“I brought the child to a quiet area and got her a bottle of water; then we had a few chats and I made sure to keep her calm. We found her mum after a short while and they were both very thankful for the help.
“I love working at Asda, our store is like a big family and my passion is helping people, so I love that I have the opportunity to do that daily in my job.”
Sandra Brown, General Manager at Asda Living Belfast, said: “Elisha is a brilliant asset to our team, helping people comes naturally to her and this is not the first time she has went above and beyond for a customer. We are so proud of her, and the child’s mum was very grateful Elisha was there to help. Thank you, Elisha!”
