Asda worker praised for going 'above and beyond' to help crying mum and baby

An Asda worker has been praised for stepping in to help a stranded mum and baby.

The woman was 'in floods of tears' at the Altrincham store's petrol station after forgetting her bank card and running out of fuel with a crying newborn in the back of her car.

Thankfully 22-year-old Jack MacAngus-Pullan, who works at the supermarket, just happened to be on the forecourt at the time and stepped in to pay for the lady's fuel on his card.

Store admin manager Lauren Ashcroft nominated Jack for a customer service award.

In a post on Asda's Facebook page praising his act of kindness, Lauren said: "The lady was extremely distressed; she was in floods of tears and her baby was crying in the back seat. She didn't have any money on her and had no one to come and help.

"Jack, who happened to be at the petrol station at the time, stepped in and paid for her fuel on his card.

"The lady was so thankful that he came to the rescue. Well done Jack, you really went above and beyond; a great example of fantastic customer service."

The store reimbursed Jack for his kind act, and the lady returned later with cash.

Hundreds of customers commented on the post with further praise.

"What an absolute gentleman. You've done your family and employers proud," said one.

While another added: "This is amazing! When you’ve just given birth your emotions are all over the place and sometimes even a trivial matter can feel like the end of the world. I bet she was devastated. How lovely that Jack was able to step in and help her out. It probably meant more to her than he’ll ever realise."
