Asda to deliver prescriptions for free during coronavirus outbreak

Asda will deliver prescriptions for free to vulnerable patients during the coronavirus crisis.

Customers who are self-isolating, or less able to get into stores, will have uncollected prescriptions delivered direct to their door.

The service for existing Asda pharmacy customers will start this weekend.

"We want to do everything we can to help our customers during this time, so we felt it necessary to offer a free prescription delivery service to our customers who are self-isolating or less able to get into our stores.," said Faisal Tuddy, Superintendent Pharmacist at Asda.

"We are pleased to announce this service will be available from today, and we hope to get the backlog of vital medication to our customers’ homes over the coming days.”

The supermarket states there has been in a huge surge in prescriptions since the start of the Covid-19 outbreak.

And while pharmacies are allowed to remain open during the lockdown, many have changed opening hours.

Some of scene large queues of customers forming outside, with caps in place in some pharmacies on the number of customers allowed in at once.
