Asda to close all stores on Boxing Day and give staff big bonus

Asda have announced that employees will be given Boxing Day off and they will receive a huge Christmas bonus.

The retail giant announced the news today that all of its stores would be remaining closed on December 26 and staff will be given the day off.

Employees will also be in line for a huge bonus, reports Mirror Online.

This means that Asda have now joined the likes of Marks & Spencer in opting to close down all its stores on the day after Christmas Day to give all of their staff a break.

They will close on what is normally a busy shopping day in the retail industry.

It means Asda stores will not re-open until December 27.

"This is of course our busiest time of year," CEO Roger Burnley told staff.

"But it was important for us to give as many of you as possible the opportunity to spend this time with those loved ones that you may not have not seen for many months so, uniquely for this year, we will not reopen our stores until December 27th."

All 631 of the business's stores will be shut on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
