Asda, Tesco and Morrisons issue urgent food recall as items may cause harm if consumed

A number of UK supermarkets have issued urgent food recalls, after revealing fears that some purchased items may cause harm to consuming customers.

Tesco has issued recalls on items such as beer and mixed fruit and nuts, which are believed to contain milk, while Asda, Morrisons and Lidl have also issued notices to customers.

The stores have apologised for the inconvenience, and are inviting anyone who has purchased an affected product to return them to the store bought from for a full refund.

The Mirror and Plymouth Live report that the recalls, which have been issued by the Food Standards Agency, are to ensure that customers are aware of problematic products unfit for sale. The FSA issues 'Product Withdrawal Information Notices' and 'Product Recall Information Notices' to notify consumers and local authorities about problems associated with consumables.

Here are some of the latest recalls.

Asda - White Lasagne Sauce

The following notice has been issued by the Food Standards Agency.

Asda is taking the precautionary action of recalling Asda White Lasagne Sauce because of a possible microbiological contamination risk due to a production fault. The issue only affects products sold at Asda stores in the North West of England, North Midlands and North Wales.

Action taken by the company

Asda is recalling the above product from affected stores only. Point-of-sale notices will only be displayed in affected Asda stores. Our advice to consumers

Vocation Brewery is recalling all batch codes of Vocation Lower Altitude Table Beer 4 x 330 ml, due to fermentation in some of the cans, causing them to swell and potentially burst.

Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.

We're recalling certain date codes of Tesco Health Omega 3 Fish Oil 30, 90 and 240 capsules, as they contain raised levels of glycidol, which are above the permitted legal limit. This shouldn't affect your health, if you've been following the dosage advice. However, if you've used the product very recently and feel unwell, we recommend you consult your GP.
