Asda supermarket issues urgent product recall for meatballs over safety fears

Asda is urgently recalling its meatballs after allergy fears were raised about the dish.

The supermarket giant has issued the alert for its Meatball Marinara ready meal as it could cause a health risk.

According to the Food Standard Agency, the meal contained milk not mentioned on the label and this could be dangerous for those with an allergy.

On the FSA website it says: “Asda is recalling its Meatball Marinara meal because it contains milk which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

"The product has been incorrectly packaged with Sundried Tomato and Basil Meatballs, which contains milk."
