Asda supermarket in West Lothian upgrading click and collect service as more people shop online

A West Lothian Asda supermarket is upgrading its click and collect services as more customers shop online.

Asda say that there has been a significant shift in the way people buy groceries over the past year and they are upgrading their shops throughout the UK to reflect this.

Their ‘feeding the nation’ campaign was launched during the Covid-19 pandemic as shoppers surged to use their online services, with 3500 visits to their website per minute in the initial weeks, and sales plummeted in stores.

Asda moved to upgrade their collection and delivery services quickly, whilst also trying to look after their customers and staff.

Now Asda Livingston have been granted permission by West Lothian Council to build a replacement click and collect canopy with added works to the car park.

The collection point for groceries at the front of the Asda in north Almondvale will be renovated to allow for easier access. The council has also granted permission for new signage at the store.

Asda has also been helping local charities during the pandemic as part of the ‘feeding the nation drive.’

A spokesperson explained: “We have taken direct action to support foodbanks through Covid-19 with a £5m donation to support the expansion of logistics and operational support functions for FareShare and Trussell Trust – enabling them to support 3,000 charities and 336,000 vulnerable families each week access the essentials they need in lockdown.

“In store donation trollies have also provided enough food for 140,000 meals – and we thank our customers for their ongoing generosity to others during this time.”
