Asda staff spotted wearing badges with 'hidden messages'

Asda has come up with a new campaign to help combat loneliness reports the MEN.

In an attempt to get Asda customers and their staff talking, shoppers may spot employees wearing badges which say 'Happy to Chat'.

This comes as levels of loneliness in the UK continue to rise ahead of the festive period.

The badges are part of Asda's new campaign: 'Delivering Christmas Kindness.' The campaign aims to tackle loneliness ahead of Christmas.

According to Asda, more than 7,000 of its delivery drivers will now have the option to wear the badges which could help those who are struggling.

The badges are optional and shoppers are already raving about the campaign hailing it as 'amazing' and 'brilliant.'

Anna-Maree Shaw, Asda's chief customer officer, said: "It's a challenging time for everyone, especially those experiencing loneliness.

"While Asda colleagues have always made an effort to have a quick chat and raise a smile, we want to make sure that whether it's in our stores, at the doorstep or in the community - we're here for customers this Christmas."

And the deputy chief executive and director of services at the Royal Voluntary Service, Sam Ward, added: "Royal Voluntary Service is incredibly proud to be part of such a wonderful initiative alongside Asda.

"We all understand that Christmas can be difficult for those who are on their own and that this year stands to be trickier than ever.

"With the help of this fantastic project, it shows that even just a little Christmas kindness will go a long way in making the festive season easier for those in need."
