Asda shoppers have blasted a £1.75 food product, with some declaring "the world has gone mad" after spotting it online.
Supermarket chain Asda is incredibly popular among shoppers thanks to its extensive line-up of food, cleaning supplies, home decor accessories and more. Like many retailers, the company often releases new items when big events are approaching.
This appears to be the case with its pre-cut fruit packs, launched ahead of the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend. The fruits are designed to accompany a range of summer beverages as the warmer months roll in.

Taking to hit Facebook page Snack News, shopper Craig Bullock shared an image of the pre-sliced fruit packs, named 'Drink Infusions' by Asda. The fruits on offer come in two variations; 'Crisp and Fragrant Drink Infusions' which contains grapefruit and rosemary, alongside lemon and cucumber, and 'Sweet and Fruity Drink Infusions', which includes orange and lemon, as well as orange, apple, strawberry and cucumber.
MEN reports the packs cost £1.75 each and are currently available in Asda supermarkets - but they've left shoppers divided. While some people had an issue with the price, others slammed the product for wasting unnecessary plastic.
Others shoppers branded the product "downright lazy". Taking to the comments section on the Facebook post, Nick Alchin said: "So it's literally a bunch of sliced fruit in a plastic box, labelled for drink. (That will have gone off by the time you try and use it) Marketing team need to be fired ffs."

Ryan McMaster said: "OR buy a whole lemon, a whole cucumber and a whole grapefruit, and have 10x as much for half the money." Bluue Taylor quipped: "For that price it would be stupid to not just do it yourself."
Rosemarie Thomas slammed: "If only fruit came in its own natural biodegradable packaging...." Kayley Saunders commented: "Save money buy the whole fruit also less unnecessary plastic!!" Pam Fretwell said: "The world has gone mad."
Steven Robinson-Perry said: "More unnecessary plastic." Janine Powton added: "Would be so much cheaper to buy your own fruit and chop them up. The world is getting so lazy!"
However, some shoppers did see a use for the drinks packs and would consider snapping them up. Charlie-Ann Keen said: "Not a bad shout if you’re having a last minute picnic with Pimm's and won’t have a way of cutting stuff yourself."
Emma Hall praised: "For somebody who struggles to use a knife and chop stuff this is brilliant." Maraied Murray-kemp pointed out: "These are yum in ice cold lemonade."
Shoppers looking to save money would be wise to buy the items and chop them up themselves. Those looking for a time-saving option, or those who may struggle to chop and prepare fruit, may benefit from Asda's summer 'Drink Infusions'.
