Asda shoppers outraged as store sells crop tops for kids as young as 7

Asda shoppers have reacted with fury after spotting crop tops for kids as part of its new George summer clothes range.

The selection of cropped tops start from ages seven to eight and cost £8 online and in stores.

But some parents have been left unimpressed by the new choices.

One person tweeted: “What is it with the girl's crop tops in the likes of Asda like my daughter utterly hates them but for some reason, 11-year-old girls are expected to want to wear them.

“Like HELLO some young girls find this uncomfortable. Cater to both worlds."

Another said: “Gone to get madam some clothes in Asda and every t-shirt is a cropped one! Why!!”

A third said: “Went to Asda last night to buy my five-year-old a plain white long sleeved top. None anywhere.

“There was however LOADS of cropped tops, bikinis etc.”

What do you think of the new Asda clothing? Let us know in the comments.

Replying to one tweet, Asda said: “Sorry to hear your daughter is not a fan... We do have lots of other style tops available for her.

However, not all shoppers were outraged - with some praising the new crop top range in reviews online.

One said: “A lovely fashionable crop top that fits perfectly!”

Another posted: “Lovely little top... Good quality material... Sizing good.”

The crop tops are part of the summer George collection at Asda, although the supermarket is not alone in selling cropped tops for kids.

Sainsbury's, John Lewis and M&S are among other big-name retailers in selling these.

A spokesperson from Asda said: “We offer a wide range of styles and choices that our customers love and this outfit is part of our new Summer collection.

“The range is proving to be very popular with customers as the weather improves.”
