Asda sends drumsticks instead of Christmas turkey in list of substitutions

Asda customers have complained after they were sent replacements for their Christmas turkey.

Many have claimed their Christmas has been ruined after Asda appeared to run out of the festive bird.

According to the Manchester Evening News, shoppers were furious at being forced to go without a turkey, or hunt for a replacement.

But apparently, a shortage of turkeys is not the only Christmas disaster the retail giant has faced.

One annoyed shopper tweeted: "Why bother letting me book a slot in November to find all these substitutes this morn? A £6.95 turkey crown as a substitute for my 2.5kg one????? Luckily @AldiUK came to the rescue!!!!"

Stuart Moody said: "OMG ... my other half having a fit... just had notification from Asda they have substituted our Turkey Joint with Turkey drumsticks #merrycrimbo "

Another social media user wrote: "So @asda are sending a gammon instead of a turkey? Merry Christmas."

Somebody else said: "So I ordered my Christmas dinner to be delivered by the Asda and they have substituted my turkey for a pork loin and gave me roasties that go off date tomorrow."

Another said: "Two days before Christmas and @asda delivers us no turkey...... #fuming."

One wrote " @AsdaServiceTeam thanks for not emailing me to say the turkey crown I ordered over 2 wks ago is out of stock, sheer chance I tried to add to my order & noticed. Never mind got everything from Aldi & cancelled Asda delivery, you've now lost my business #asdaruinedchristmasforme ."

Another said: "Why would you encourage customers to book a shopping slot for Christmas and then allow your Turkey’s to go out of stock @asda? Absolutely ridiculous."

Asda say there is no turkey shortage, but depending on where customer orders come from the supermarket say there can be fluctuations in product levels.

They say they generally have  good availaibility of turkeys and have already completed many festive orders.

An Asda spokesperson said: "Customers can be rest assured our colleagues are working incredibly hard to ensure everyone receives their festive orders in time for Christmas.

"In the limited number of cases where there have been some items unavailable, our customer services team have been helping those individual customers to find a solution as quickly as possible."
