It's always said that if you find a lump of coal in your stocking it's because you've been naughty, but we wouldn't mind the interesting take on coal that has just gone on sale at Asda.
After plenty of consultation with Santa we presume, the famous supermarket is selling packets of Coal Marshmallows in the run-up to Christmas.
The new sweets were spotted in Asda by an eagle-eyed shopper on Monday and a post about the them on the Extreme Couponing & Bargains UK Facebook page, quickly attracted a sleigh-load of comments within a matter of minutes.
Among the many people who tagged friends and family, urging them to get a few bags in for kids' stockings, were comments like "taking the whole getting a lump of coal for Xmas to a new level," and omg these would of been perfect for us as kids Haha."
Coal is of course nor just for Christmas, it is always a traditions at New Year as well, with the person acting as your 'first foot', turning up with coal in return for a warm welcome and some food and drink.
The bags of Coal Marshmallows are on sale at Asda for £2. Other highlights of Asda's festive food offerings this year include Extra Special mini pub classics like bite-sized cheeseburgers, mini posh hot dogs and mini fish & chips; gin-soaked smoked salmon and a garlic bread wreath.
