Asda's new opening times mean customers could avoid queuing at stores

Asda has changed its opening hours meaning customers could avoid lengthy queues during their next visit.

Back in March when lockdown began Asda, like many supermarkets, reduced its opening times to ensure staff were given enough time to restock shelves and clean its stores.

As stock levels started to return to normal in April stores extended their opening hours by two hours and now they have increased again.

Selected Asda stores are now open 7am-midnight Monday-Saturday (Sunday trading hours remain as normal).

The longer opening hours applies to Walton and Aintree stores. You can find your nearest store here.

The new timings means customers have more chance of avoiding queues as they can shop much later in the day when stores tend to be at their quietest.

Extending its opening hours isn't the only way Asda is trying to tackling queues at its stores. Asda is trialling a "virtual queuing" system as part of its investment in longer-term social distancing measures.

This system will allow customers to log in to the queue remotely and wait in their cars to enter stores.

So far it is being trialled in its store in Middleton, near Leeds, and could be rolled out nationwide later down the line.
