Asda recall products over salmonella, cross-contamination and allergen fears

Asda has recalled a number of items amid fears of salmonella, cross-contamination and allergens.

The supermarket chain issued the recall on Wednesday.

Food suppliers take this action when a problem is spotted with a product.

In this case, three popular items have sparked concerns among shoppers, the Express reports.

Here is the full rundown;

Two Original Chicken Chargrills

Asda has recalled some of its own brand chicken due to the possible presence of salmonella.

Asda Chicken Chargrills come in a two-pack (ASDA)

This can cause symptoms such as sickness, abdominal cramps and fever.

Shoppers should check for the batch code 31120953 and barcode 505717210688.

Affected packs have the best before date of September 5, 2022 and are 170g.

Those who have purchased the above batch should return it for a full refund.

No receipt is required to do this and no other Asda chicken products are known to be affected.

The Twister Peek-A-Blue 5 Multi-Pack (ASDA)

Twister Peek-A-Blue 5 Multi-Pack

The Wall's product has been recalled due to a possible health risk for those with an allergy or intolerance to milk.

An Asda statement said: "Wall’s is taking the precautionary measure of recalling all batches of Twister Peek-A-Blue (five multi-pack and single-serve) due to the possibility of higher than expected cross-contamination levels of milk.

"The safety of the people that buy and use our products is always our number one priority, which is why we are taking the voluntary precaution of recalling all batches as it could pose a safety risk to those people with an allergy or intolerance to milk.

"No other Wall’s or Twister products are affected except Twister Peek-A-Blue."

Those who have purchased the product and have an allergy or intolerance should not eat.

Instead, they can contact the Wall's customer care on 0800 146252 or ukicare@unilever.com.

ASDA Extra Special Vegan Mushroom & Leek Pie (ASDA)

Asda Frozen Vegan Mushroom and Leek Pie

All dates of the frozen pie have been recalled as they contain undeclared allergens.

Some batches have trace amounts of milk constituents which are not mentioned on the label.

This would cause a potential health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance.

Customers should check for the barcode 505717223369 and 170g packs.

The product can be returned to stores for a refund, the supermarket stated.

"If you have purchased Asda Frozen Vegan Mushroom and Leek Pie (170g), please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund," a statement said.

"You do not need your receipt. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused.

"If you would like any further information please contact: Asda Customer Relations – 0800 952 0101."
