Asda Money teams up with debt charity to host free webinars to help people talk about their finances

Asda Money have announced they will be launching a series of webinars as part of their Lunch Money event in association with StepChange during Talk Money Week.

Every lunchtime at 12.30pm between November 8 and 12, Asda Money will release a talk covering an important money-related topic with expert speakers on Asda’s YouTube channel.

Talk Money Week is an annual campaign, run by The Money and Pensions Service, to encourage the nation to talk about their finances, this year the theme is ‘money secrets’ - a recent study by the Service found that 55 per cent of people don’t feel comfortable opening up to others about their financial worries.

Talk Money Week runs from November 8 until 12 (Asda Money / StepChange)

Commenting on the upcoming events, Katie Walley, Senior Director at Asda Money, explained: “This Talk Money Week, Asda Money wants to help break these taboo subjects, especially as we understand that many people, including some of our customers, will face financial difficulties this winter due to current economic events.

“Our webinars will provide real practical advice from experts on important topics, ranging from educating young people on money to managing household bills. We hope that through our Lunch Money event we can help encourage people to manage their finances and seek debt advice when they need it.”

Andy Shaw, Debt Advice Policy Officer at StepChange, is participating in all the daily events next week.

He said: “Whether it’s sharing budgeting tips with friends, or discussing household bills with someone in your family, having a good relationship with your finances starts with being able to talk about them.

“Our clients often tell us they wish they’d got in contact with us sooner, which is why this Talk Money Week we want to get the conversation around debt and finances started, so people feel more equipped to speak up and seek help when they need it. “
