Asda makes major loyalty app change to help shoppers save cash amid rising costs

In good news for Asda shoppers, a major change has been made to its Rewards app.

The supermarket giant has confirmed members of its loyalty scheme will have even longer to spend the money from their cashpot - which has been turned into vouchers.

Asda rewards is the supermarket chain's first ever loyalty scheme and which allows shoppers to earn money which is saved into a 'cashpot' after spending money in-store or online. When they collect enough money, it can be turned into vouchers so they can spend it when they need it next whether it's their weekly food shop or some homewear essentials.

Customers, however, will now have even longer to use their vouchers. As reported by the Daily Record, the timeframe in which customers can use them has extended to three months.

While customers have longer to use their vouchers, those who began using the app when it was first launched in July last year are being reminded to convert the money they earned in that month to vouchers before the end of January.

When vouchers are due to expire, customers will receive a notification from the app telling them they it is due to expire from their cashpot each month.

The Asda Rewards app, which is said to be used by more than three million customers, was first launched in late July of last year to help support customers throughout the cost of living crisis. Proven to be a hit with shoppers who are looking for ways to keep costs low on their weekly shopping, more than £20million worth of Asda vouchers were spent in-store in December 2022.

Mark Baxter, Asda's Senior Director of Loyalty, said: "We know that many Asda Rewards customers like to save up their Cashpots to spend at special occasions.

"This change means they now have longer to use their rewards and importantly can build up even larger amounts to use whenever they choose."
