Asda makes changes to store opening times and it's good news for customers

Asda has extended its opening hours which means customers could avoid lengthy queues both inside and outside stores.

In March, like many supermarkets, Asda reduced its opening hours to give employees more time to prepare the store for the next day.

Then in April the store extended opening times by two hours.

And now it has increased them again at selected stores.

Selected Asda stores are now open 7am-midnight Monday-Saturday (Sunday trading hours remain as normal), reports Liverpool Echo.

You can find your nearest store and check if its opening hours have changed here.

The new timings means customers have more chance of avoiding queues as they can shop much later in the day when stores tend to be at their quietest.

Other supermarkets are trialling other ways of shortening queues.

Aldi has a new traffic light system while Tesco is asking customers to remain in their cars instead of queuing during rainy or cold weather.

A statement on Tesco's website explains: "If it's raining or particularly cold, we may ask you to stay in your car to queue – we'll let you know when you can come in."
