Asda launching vegan aisle dedicated to plant-based food

Asda is launching a vegan aisle across 359 of its stores in the UK after revealing plans for more than a hundred new vegan products in its range of non-refrigerated products.

Two bays in each of the stores will be dedicated to vegan products - with one for savoury, including proteins and cooking sauces, and one for sweet food and snacks.

According to the supermarket chain, interest in vegan products has risen by 275% in the past year.

Two new Galaxy chocolate flavours will be included in the range, alongside Asda's own-label rice and lentil bowls, as well as a number from brands such as Mrs Crimble’s, Vego and an exclusive falafel mix from Bosh.

Last Christmas, Asda pulled out all the stops on its vegan range, to include a vegan cheeseboard and vegan mince pies.

“We understand that customers want a quick and simple shopping experience, and this shouldn’t be restricted by dietary requirements,” Asda buying manager Sarah Thornewill told The Grocer.

“By merchandising all our vegan items together, we hope to save customers time and offer inspiration, whether for those following a plant-based diet, or those looking to reduce their meat consumption.”
