Asda has launched a new celebration cake to rival household favourite Colin the Caterpillar.
The M&S cake has been a frequent fixture at birthday’s across the UK since he first appeared on the shelves in 1990.
And now, Asda has unveiled Sid the Sausage Dog Cake, measuring a foot and a half in length and big enough for 24 people to grab a slice.
Sid boasts many of the same attributes as Colin - made of soft chocolate sponge stuffed with chocolate buttercream and a milk chocolate shell.
However, Mirror Online also reports that he comes wearing edible chocolate flakes and white stripes - and of course a puppy-dog expression.
Becky Price, Asda's product development manager for cakes, said: "We know our customers love a novelty cake that injects plenty of fun into special celebrations at an affordable price.
"We've seen a rising demand from our customers for sausage dog-themed products, so Sid is a great addition to our celebration cake range and is sure to become one popular pooch."
The adorable dachshund is available to buy online at Asda.co.uk or in stores and costs £12.
The popular supermarket has also revealed a new fruit and veg box that shoppers can order for home delivery.
