Asda Killingbeck incident: Customer 'stabs himself' leaving 'blood everywhere'

A man has stabbed himself in front of staff and shoppers at an Asda store, according to reports.

The horrifying incident, which left "blood everywhere", happened in Killingbeck Drive, in Leeds, just before 6am.

A source told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "A customer stabbed himself...they closed the store as police and ambulance were there and there was blood everywhere.

"It was shocking for staff to see."

Locals express their shock on social media after the terrifying incident.

One woman said: "My brother in law works there and texted my hubby saying what went down.

"Someone tried to kill themselves inside Asda."

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "At 5.57am today police were called to a report of an injured man at Asda, in Killingbeck Drive.

"The man has been taken to hospital with injuries that are serious but not believed to be life threatening.

"Officers are currently at the scene.

"Incident is at early stages but does not appear to be an assault."
