Asda issues urgent product recall and 'health risk' warning

If you've done your food shop at Asda recently, you might want to check your cupboards.

That's because the supermarket is recalling a food item over a potential safety risk.

There are fears one of the shop's products may contain metal.

The food item is Struik Foods Bunlimited Crispy Onions. There is an urgent warning as this product may have small metal wire pieces in some packs.

The FSA have stated ‘the presence of the metal makes it unsafe to eat’, and customers must be made aware.

The item in question is the 100g packet of Bunlimited Crispy onions.

Customers are being asked to check their items with the best before date of June 11, 2020. Do not consume the product, instead return it to the store where it was purchased in order to receive a full refund.

Product recalls explained

The FSA apologised for any inconvenience caused, and ask customers to contact Asda Customer Relations with any further questions.

No other Struik Foods products are known to be affected.

Earlier this week, Waitrose issued an urgent recall for a chive mix.
