ASDA issues tribute following the death of Prince Philip

Supermarket giant ASDA has issued a moving update to shoppers following the death of Prince Philip.

Buckingham Palace announced the Duke of Edinburgh's death just after midday, saying the Royal Family were “mourning his loss”.

Now ASDA has shared a message with shoppers.

Posting on Facebook, ASDA wrote: "From everyone at Asda, our deepest condolences to Her Majesty The Queen and the Royal Family on the passing of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh."

The post has already racked up over a thousand likes, and hundreds of comments.

"Rip so so sad," said one person.

Another wrote: "R.I.P. HRH Prince Philip!"

"Close all the pubs Al(sic) the shops hairdressing," said somebody else.

The Palace said in a statement: “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty the Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness the Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.

“Further announcements will made in due course.

“The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.”

No further details were released about the circumstances of his death.
