Asda issues important update on rules for parents taking their kids shopping

UK supermarket Asda has shared an update on its rules for parents who want to take their kids to the supermarket with them.

The news has been announced after a series of fake news posts did the rounds on social media, which suggested that families with children would be banned from stores from 29 March.

Updating shoppers, Asda wrote on Facebook: "You may have seen posts being shared on social media suggesting that families with children won't be allowed into our stores from tomorrow. This isn't the case.

"Everyone in the UK is being asked by the Government to shop sensibly and only when required. Where needed, we are limiting the total number of shoppers we allow into a store at any one time.

"If possible, it would help us greatly if you could bring fewer family members when visiting our stores. This will help us maintain social distancing guidelines we already have in place."

Shoppers have been quick to respond, with many single parents in particular being thankful for the update.

"I have seen people sharing that ASDA is not allowing children in from tomorrow. So glad this isn't true because it would discriminate against single parents who have to take their children out with them because there is nobody else to look after them," wrote one.

Another urged: "Please remember a parent may be unable to leave their kids at home because the other parent is a key worker."

"Just bear in mind please that some of us adults might have hidden disabilities and be reliant on carers," reminded somebody else.

Let's all stop judging others before knowing the context, eh? We're facing difficult times right now, and people are doing their best. It's time for us to stick together instead of judging one another - and it'll make life easier all round.

Oh, and until a supermarket announces certain rule changes, don't believe everything you read on social media!
