Asda issue urgent food recall after salmonella scare concerning one of its products

Supermarket giant Asda has issued an urgent food recall concerning one of its products over fears it may contain salmonella.

The health scare relates to its own brand vegetable cous cous.

The alert specifically concerns the 500g pack size of the popular snack which costs customers £1.95 and includes all 'use by' dates up to and including June 3, 2021.

Supermarket bosses have taken the action as symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.

As well as recalling the product, point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product.

These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.

A Food Alert notice over the matter has also been issued by the Food Standards Agency.

If you have bought the product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. No receipt is needed.

Asda has apologised to its customers for any inconvenience caused by the food recall notice.

If anyone has any further questions they are advised to contact Asda Customer Relations by phoning 0800 952 0101.
