Asda is selling 'cute' Valentine's Day engagement rings for just £1 in all stores

Supermarket giant Asda is flogging engagement rings for Valentine's Day for just one pound.

The food retailer is offering romantics the budget way to pop the question with the plastic sparkler.

The £1 silver-coloured band includes an imitation diamond jewel - which is available online right now.

It comes in a red, heart-shaped box as a gift for the most romantic day of the year on February 14.

The George Home Valentine's Engagement Ring is available to buy in stores up and down the country and online.

The production description reads: "Share some love with this ring.

"With matching heart box."

Couples say it's a cute idea (Laura Baker)

Shopper Laura Baker was left stunned by the cheap ring.

She joked: "For anyone who is wanting to propose this Valentine's Day.

"They do a really cute £1 ring in Asda.

"I wasn't expecting anything to be in the box to be honest.

"Thought it was just a ring box."

Other customer Amy Smith added: "That's crazy.

"Wonder what it's made of."

Asda has been approached for comment.

Supermarket Aldi is also jumping on the Valentine’s theme this year with a range of love-themed candles, starting from £4.99.

The hero of the collection is a romantic Red Roses centrepiece candle, inspired by the Jo Malone equivalent.

It also includes giant reed diffusers in matching scents and light-up LED candles and launches into store on February 6.

With a huge burn time of 60 hours, the wick-ed Hotel Collection Centrepiece Candles (£9.99, 700g) come in two light, floral scents: Red Roses and Paris Blossoms.

Shoppers can also get their hands on Aldi’s Hotel Collection XL Reed Diffusers (£9.99, 400ml), in matching scents.

Elsewhere, Avon has launched two new fragrances for him and her this Valentine’s Day.

Attraction Game For Him and Attraction Game For Her both feature a fresh pear and spicy pepper opening, and a dark chocolate note at the heart.

Gina Ghura, Avon’s head of fragrance, said: “Based on our research, we understand the important role fragrance plays in the game of attraction. With 44% of UK women revealing a bad fragrance choice can dull a romantic spark³, we knew we had to get this right.
