Asda is selling a Pink Gin flavoured cake topped with mini edible bottles for £12

From pink gin cream at Christmas to pink gin ice lollies last summer, there’s no sign that demand for food inspired by the rosy tipple is slowing down.

And if it’s proof you’re after, Asda has launched a dreamy-looking Pink Gin Cake with four layers of pink gin soaked madeira sponge and sweet jam.

Covered in frosting – pink, of course – and topped with tiny edible pink gin bottles, it's perfect for putting a twist on traditional afternoon tea.

And when lockdown restrictions begin to ease in Scotland, it’s definitely one to share with gin-loving friends and family.

Asda’s Pink Gin Flavour Cake serves 18 and costs a reasonable £12 - be warned though, each serving contains 293 calories and 14g of fat, so moderation is a must.

Sarah Burns, Asda product developer, comments: “We know our customers love a novelty cake and this one, for adults only, oozes sophistication.”

“Enjoy in the evening with a favourite gin and tonic or, for something new, why not enjoy afternoon tea with a twist?!”
