Asda is creating 300 new jobs in the North East - this is how to apply

Hundreds of jobs will be created by a major supermarket at its North East clothing depot.

Asda is creating 300 new jobs at one of its clothing fulfilment centres in Washington to support the continued growth of George.com.

The new roles will be based at Asda’s North East clothing depot at Staithes Road in Pattison Industrial Estate, which is currently being used to fulfil George’s in-store stock in the region.

There are three fulfilment centres in total in the area, employing 1,217 colleagues.

Asda is looking for warehouse operatives to pick and pack items to help the retailer fulfil projected volume increases from George.com, with the site expanding to support online orders from April.

Asda Senior Director of People, Supply Chain and Asda Logistics Services, Mickey Greenhalgh, said: “Our distribution centres in Washington have been an essential part of our network for the past 20 years, helping us serve our customers in the local area.

“As online shopping continues to grow we are looking for more team-orientated colleagues to help us as we start to fulfil George.com orders, with volumes set to increase week by week as we go through the clothing peak and back to school events.”

New colleagues will be entitled to 10% off their Asda shopping, incentive schemes, a pension scheme, bonus scheme and discounts across a range of services and activities, from airport parking to theme parks and cinemas.
