In a bid to make shopping quicker, safer and easier for customers during the covid-19 pandemic, Asda has made some big changes to how it operates.
From a one-way system in stores, to reducing its 24 hour service and increasing contactless payment limits, the supermarket giant has constantly evolved throughout the pandemic with the safety of staff and shoppers in mind.
And now Asda has announced a new change to its stores, which aims to make the self-checkout process as efficient as possible.
In an announcement on social media, Asda said: "To further support our social distancing measures in our stores and help you to shop contact free, we are pleased to announce that we have extended Scan and Go mobile to all stores.
"To use, simply download the app, and register your details to get started. Then bring your mobile to store and use the app to scan and pack items as you shop.
"There is no need to unpack and repack at checkout, and you can also keep a track of what you’re spending as you go."
Once you have the app open and you've inputted the location of the store you're shopping at, all you have to do is scan each item by holding up the barcode to your phone camera.
You can pack your items as you shop, and you won't need to unpack them at the checkout. All you need to to is make your way to the self checkout area to pay. Scan the barcode on the app to pay (it's card only).
Aside from making shopping much quicker, the app has several benefits. If you're looking for a specific item, just type it in the app's search bar and it will tell you where in store to find it.
The app will also display a running total as you shop, so you can budget with more ease.
Happy shopping!
