Supermarket giant Asda has confirmed it will be extending its new loyalty app trial to 48 stores across the UK - with three in Central Scotland.
The expansion means that shoppers based in parts of Edinburgh will now be able to take advantage of the supermarket's first ever loyalty scheme.
Asda initially successfully trialled their 'Asda Rewards' loyalty app to 16 stores in West Yorkshire and Birmingham back in October last year.
It is the first ever time the supermarket has launched a loyalty scheme for its customers and it follows in the footsteps of Tesco and their popular Clubcard membership.
Since its launch, the supermarket has said that more than 90,000 customers have downloaded the app and 50,000 are using it on a regular basis.
To access the scheme, customers need to download the 'Asda Rewards' app where they can begin earning rewards that can be used on their shopping.
Customers using the app can earn rewards when buying selected branded and Asda own-label products, including many core everyday grocery lines along with household cleaning and pet products.
With the app, customers can build up their 'cashpot' on many shopping essentials from grocery lines, household cleaning and pet products.
Shoppers can also further add to their 'cashpot' by completing 'in-app missions', such as buying five fruit and veg items to unlock their ‘5 a day badge’.
Customers will see their Cashpot build in the app as they shop and they can redeem their cash whenever they choose by creating a voucher with the money they have saved. This can then be used on their next shop or saved up to pay for a full shop in the future.
