Asda customers fume after 'technical issue' messes up their deliveries

Asda has today told customers that a technical issue was behind problems with deliveries. Customers who removed items from online orders may have had them delivered, it said.

The supermarket said anyone who received items they had removed and did not want, can hand back to the driver. The issue has since been fixed.

The message to customers on Tuesday morning said: "We are experiencing a technical issue with amendments for orders today. If you receive items you removed and you do not want them, please hand back to the driver.

"Any items added to your order will not be in your delivery. The issue has been fixed for future orders."

Customers were quick to complain about their deliveries on twitter. CatTeachers said: "I have lots of missing items due to this. I think an apology would be in order rather than just saying 'the issue has been fixed'.

"Really really annoying. My printout of my order bears no relationship to the online version of my order. Add in substitutions and it is a mess!"

Menna Flavell wrote: "Collected order from Dudley store today. Only when I got home I noticed missing / previously cancelled items.

"When bundling items into car, under pressure to move quickly to make room for delivery lorry. No mention of problem from shop staff. Surely they should have advised me."

fi wrote: "My order was confirmed at 8pm last night and also been charged for 12 items I haven’t received. No apology or explanation from the driver either. It’s not good enough."

Paula Driver said: "Wasted three hours last night trying to amend my order. More confusing receiving a correct email of amended basket only to find it had reverted back to original every time. I now have a minimum order charge I would like refunded as not my fault I couldn’t add the rest of my items."
