Asda could make three major changes to all its UK supermarkets after lockdown

Asda could be planning to introduce major changes to all its UK supermarkets, according to reports.

The supermarket giant's owners are considering introducing cafés, hair salons and even nail bars, according to the Sunday Times.

Asda has remained open throughout lockdown after supermarkets were branded essential by the Government.

But proposals to any changes are subject to the clearance from the competition and markets authority (CMA), Birmingham Live reports.

The supermarket has already introduced the launch of its in-house vaccination centres and struck a deal with third party concessions such as Claire's Accessories and The Entertainer, similar to Next's teaming up with Costa and Paperchase.

According to the Prime Minister's lockdown roadmap, non-essential retail shops are due to reopen to customers from April 12.

New owners Mohsin and Zuber Issa, the billionaire owners of Euro Garages, have plans and proposals to transform the supermarket.

They want to keep people shopping for longer and boost overall spending on the high street.

Shortly after Rishi Sunak's Budget, five of the UKs largest supermarket chains - Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Morrisons and Aldi - said they would not accept rates relief.
