Asda and Morrisons recall chicken and cereal over health fears

Two of the nation's supermarkets have issued urgent recalls on food products over fears of contamination.

Both Asda and Morrisons have recalled the popular products, urging customers who may have bought them to return them for a full refund, reports the Daily Record.

The recall notices, issued by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) have been made to protect the public from potential health and safety risks.

Morrisons has recalled its own brand Choco Crackles breakfast cereal because packs may contain pieces of plastic and Asda has recalled its own brand Two Original Chicken Chargrills over fears it may contain salmonella.

Here are the full details of both product recalls

Morrisons Choco Crackles breakfast cereal

FSA warning: “The presence of plastic in some of the product’s packs makes it unsafe to eat as it could be harmful.” Morrisons is recalling its Choco Crackles cereal and has taken steps to ensure customers who have already bought the product do not eat it.

Point of sale notices will be displayed in all supermarkets that are selling the product, explaining to customers why the product is being recalled and telling them what to do if they have bought it.

The FSA is also advising customers on its website: “If you have bought any of the above product, do not eat it.

"Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”

Morrisons said: “Please do not eat this product, and return it to your nearest store for a full refund.

"We don’t need a receipt.” The supermarket added: “No other products are affected by this issue.
