Actress Elizabeth Hubbard has died at the age of 89, her son revealed in a moving tribute.
The star, best known for her role on As the World Turns, passed away over the weekend son Jeremy Bennett wrote on Facebook.
Her performances on the long-running soap led to her winning a number of awards as well as bagging 11 Daytime Emmy nominations in her illustrious career.
Eight of them came from her role as Lucinda Walsh on the show. The psychological drama followed a group of professionals in a small Illinois town and she played the role from 1984 until the last season in 2010.
Jeremy said: "I'm sorry to say with a broken heart mi mum passed over the weekend.
"Thank you for being an unmovable rock that guided me through life. I will try to honour your memory for as long as I live."
Her award win came from her memorable performance on daytime soap The Doctors, in which she starred as Dr Althea Davis in a sporadic role between 1964 and 1982.
On the big screen, her resume saw her star on hit movies such as The Bell Jar, I Never Sang For My Father and Cold River.


Fans of the star took to social media following the news to share messages of condolence.
One user on Twitter, alongside an image of Elizabeth, wrote: "It is with great sadness that I share the news that the legendary Elizabeth Hubbard passed away over the weekend. You will be missed dear, Liz. Rest in peace!


"Liz's son Jeremy shared the news earlier today. Keep him, their family and Martha Byrne in your thoughts and prayers."
A second person wrote: "There will never be another #ElizabethHubbard," while a third said: "Rest in peace, Elizabeth Hubbard. Not only was she a phenomenal actress, but she was a great human.
"One of the first soap stars I ever interviewed. Her mind for the art form was top notch. She will truly be missed."
