As The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake rumors swirl, Nintendo boss teases "new titles beyond those already announced"

The legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time.

Amid rumors of a Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake releasing later this year, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has said there's still unannounced Switch 2 games on the way.

During the company's latest shareholders Q&A (translated by Genki_JPN), Furukawa was asked about the rate Nintendo Switch 2 titles are releasing at, responding, "While it would be ideal to deliver new titles more frequently and in a more timely manner, as you pointed out, software development periods have become longer compared to the past."

He continues: "Even under these circumstances, we will continue to implement various initiatives, such as refining our development systems and processes, so that many titles can be enjoyed on the Nintendo Switch 2."

As for what is in the works, Furukawa explains: "Regardless of whether it is considered a major title or not, we are preparing a variety of new titles for the Nintendo Switch 2." While it hasn't really hit Switch 2 as of yet, Nintendo has been releasing some of its more esoteric franchises as of late, with Tomodachi Life returning last month and Rhythm Heaven set to get a new entry in July, so perhaps we could be seeing more of those smaller franchises soon.

And while it was a foregone conclusion to say 'Nintendo is making games,' given the looming specter of GTA 6, many have speculated that the holiday season in 2026 may be quite a bit quieter than usual, but Furukawa seems to confirm this won't be the case for Nintendo. He explains, "In addition, for the lineup for the second half of this fiscal year, we have prepared new titles beyond those already announced, and we will provide details at the appropriate time."

While it's not mentioned by name, we can speculate that the rumored Ocarina of Time remake could be one of them, especially following the reveal of the new Star Fox game, which had been leaked at the same time by the same leaker. Now we know that one of those leaks was true, many fans now think the Zelda remake is now all but confirmed, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time fans share hopes for its rumored remake – not just "prettier graphics," Nintendo, just "swing for the fences" but don't make "Ocarina of the Wild."
