'As simple as that' - Bristol City sent transfer message after defeat to Sheffield Wednesday

Keith Andrews says Bristol City need to strengthen both in attack and on the wing in January.

The Robins went down to a 1-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday, with a controversial late penalty condemning them to a third loss in a row.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Andrews was impressed with City's resolute defending in the game, but said they lacked things in attack - and feels they need to add players in January to get the best out of their squad.

"Creatively, Kasey Palmer hasn't happened for whatever reason," he said.

"He hasn't been able to play that type of system where he can play as a 10 and provide that creativity.

"Earlier in the season, with Benik Afobe, it was looking really, really promising.

"So in terms of that type of position, I'd really like to see them put one in there and a striker.

"But how many teams are going to be after a striker in January? It's not as easy as putting one in.

"Benik Afobe would have been a magnificent signing, obviously he got the injury and they've missed him, it's as simple as that.

"I also think they lack a little in wide areas, which is why he's constantly switching from a back four to a back three to try and find that answer."
