As NBA suspension may help extend his career, Mavericks' J.J. Barea is eager to play, even away from family

The NBA hasn't played a game in two months, and it's not yet clear if and when the season will resume.

But J.J. Barea has looked past the uncertainty with the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic and appreciated a few positive points.

And he's gotten to reflect on championship memories while spending his first stretch of time as a stay-at-home dad and husband.

In a recent phone interview with The Dallas Morning News, Barea reflected on his new daily normal, his opinion on the NBA's potential return _ including in an isolated setting _ how he envisioned the Mavericks' playoff chances before the hiatus and more.

Below are Barea's answers, lightly edited for length and clarity.
