'As long as' - Former Red's message for Nottingham Forest fans after Chris Hughton appointment

Former Red Jermaine Jenas has backed new boss Chris Hughton to be a success at Nottingham Forest.

Hughton was appointed on Tuesday evening, 30 minutes after the announcement of Sabri Lamouchi's departure as head coach.

The 61-year-old has previously guided Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion to promotion from the Championship.

And the aim will be to do the same again at the City Ground.

He takes charge of a team which is without a point after four league games - and which only scored its first goal of the season on Saturday, in a 2-1 defeat to Bristol City.

Jenas, who started his career with the Reds, wrote on Twitter: "Forest fans! I want you all to get behind Chris Hughton and support him and give him time.

"I've worked with him and he's a top man and a fantastic manager with a proven record that I believe will bring the club the success it deserves, as long as he is given what he needs."

Hughton will get time on the training pitch with the players in the next fortnight, due to the international break.

His first game at the helm will be against Blackburn Rovers, a week on Saturday.
