'As good as anybody in the Premier League', The England class star Eddie Howe has at his disposal again

Callum Wilson will get the chance to revive his World Cup dream again with England - according to Graeme Jones.

Jones knows how close Wilson came to being part of the Euro 2020 squad that went on to reach the final and now he believes he will get the opportunity to audition for Qatar 2022.

England are back in action on Friday night for their World Cup qualifier against Albania at Wembley before they wrap up their campaign away to San Marino next Monday.

But despite scoring four this season and registering 16 goals in 30 starts for Newcastle in the Premier League since arriving from Bournemouth, Wilson is yet to be capped playing for the Magpies.

When asked for insight on his international absence Jones said: "I know the England staff rate him.

"You heard Gareth Southgate speak about Jadon Sancho and Jesse Lingard that they have not played enough minutes to warrant being in the England squad.

"I think Callum comes under that category.

"Touch wood he is OK. And he needs to stay OK when the March internationals come round.

"He is highly thought of."

And Jones backs Wilson to add to his four-goal tally in the coming weeks with Newcastle as he looks to better last season's tally of 12 for the Mags.

Jones said: "We all know the quality Callum Wilson, a fit Callum is as good as anybody in the Premier League. Long may that continue."
